Got Coffee? Don’t Ignore These Tips

Making great coffee is more of an art form than a science. Sometimes homemade coffee can taste too strong, too bitter or too weak. The following article has some great tips and tricks on how you can consistently create a wonderful tasting cup of joe that you are sure to enjoy.

Use airtight containers to store your coffee. Exposed beans makes for stale coffee. Steer clear of valved bags, because they lose their air-tight quality once the seal is compromised. They really are just for letting out air after you’ve roasted the beans.

Are you inviting company over for coffee? You should try decorating the lattes you make by yourself. A bit of practice will help you create flowers or leaves, and you will impress your guests. Try mixing some warm milk with melted chocolate each time you make coffee.

Do not reheat coffee after you are finished with it. It won’t actually hurt you, but you will not enjoy your coffee as much. Certain chemical compounds that are inside your coffee start breaking down within 30 minutes of brewing. Microwaved coffee or coffee left on a hot plate start this process even faster. The taste can change to a bitter flavor.

Pay attention to the quality of your water. If your water does not taste good, neither will your coffee. It is also wise to utilize water with a high mineral content. Otherwise, your coffee runs the risk of tasting bitter.

The variety of coffee types and flavors is endless. Some like it dark and strong, and some like it light and mild. Besides the typical roasted coffee, different flavors like chocolate or blueberry are available. Most people prefer to add flavor with a creamer rather than by using flavored coffee.

While keeping coffee in the freezer can extend its shelf life, you shouldn’t store it for longer than three months. Storing it in the freezer longer makes it lose its freshness and flavor.

If your coffee is kept in the refrigerator, be sure that the coffee container is completely airtight. If not, odors from the refrigerator can seep in and permeate the coffee. This will also keep the coffee dry, so that it doesn’t become moist, which will alter the taste of the coffee.

For the best results from an older coffee maker, first brew some hot water before you make any coffee. When you have a pot of hot water, put in the coffee grounds, and pour the hot water back in the machine. This techniques help you attain a hot, flavorful pot of coffee.

As you can see by now, making great coffee takes a bit of skill. You can make great coffee time after time, though, if you follow the tips shared in this article.
